Delwood Kalei Gardner
Delwood Kalei Gardner passed away on Feb. 16, 2023, at the age of 52. He was born on Dec. 13, 1970, in Lihu‘e. He was a welder/iron worker and owner of Kalei’s Steelworks.
He was preceded in death by parents Clarence and Maverline “Nani” Gardner, brother Moses Lono Gardner and son Kody Kalei Gardner.
He is survived by wife Lanell Miyamoto of Kaua‘i, daughter Britney (Jarett) Fujioka of Kaua‘i, grandchildren Kailea Fujioka, Maddie Fujioka, brother Wayne (Raynette) Taniguchi of Kaua‘i, sister Raynette (Momilani) Gardner of Kaua‘i, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is at Kaua‘i Veterans Center on Saturday, April 15. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by service at 11 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kody Kalei Gardner
Kody Kalei Gardner passed away on Feb. 28, 2022, at the age of 22. He was born on July 1, 2000 in Lihu‘e.
He was preceded in death by father Delwood Kalei Gardner, grandparents Clarence and Maverline “Nani” Gardner and uncle Moses Lono Gardner.
He is survived by mother Lanell Miyamoto of Kaua‘i, sister Britney (Jarett) Fujioka) of Kaua‘i, nieces Kailea Fujioka, Maddie Fujioka, grandparents Lon (Valerie) Miyamoto of Kaua‘i, Melanie (Roger) Espino Honjo of Nevada, numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
A service is at the Kauai Veterans Center on Saturday, April 15. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by service at 11 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Sidney Roy Nadoza
Sidney Roy Nadoza passed away on March 25, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born on June 28, 1957, in Honolulu, formally of 1218 Circle Lane. He worked for the Handi-van bus services for 33 years. Sidney had a certified accounting degree from the University of Hawai‘i.
He was preceded in death by mother Juanita Nadoza, father Bernaldo “Benny” Nadoza, sister Roseanna Fontecha, brother Leonard “Leo” Nadoza and brother-in-law Wayne Lopez.
Sidney is survived by sisters Jeraldine (Richard) Masumoto of Koloa, Sharon Lopez of Kalaheo, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Services are private and scattering of his ashes will be held at a later date.
Roger William Sim
Roger William Sim passed away on March 24, 2023, at Wilcox Hospital, Lihu‘e, of heart failure. Roger was born on Dec. 15 1950, in Orange, California. He moved to Honolulu in the early 1970s and relocated to Kaua‘i a few years later. He worked in the construction industry on O‘ahu and Kaua‘i for over 40 years during which he helped rebuild the island following hurricanes Iwa and Iniki. Surfing was his passion.
Roger is survived by his sister Barbara Klee (husband Lyle) of Colorado, niece Carrie Gross, nephew David Gross (Erin) of Colorado, cousins Dr. Patrick Hogan and Timothy Hogan of Seattle, Ginger Garrison of Kapa‘a, and DJ Carroll of California.
The family is deeply thankful to and appreciative of the staff at Ho‘ola Lahui Kapa‘a Community Medical Clinic (especially Dr. Hayashi and June), Dr. So and Cardiology Department nurses, the nursing staff at Wilcox Emergency Room and Hospital, and the Leighton Cabreira, Jr. family (Kapa‘a).
He will be cremated at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, Lihu‘e.
Moises Cortado
Moses Cortado passed away on Feb. 25, 2023, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, at the age of 80. He was born on March 23, 1942, in the Philippines. He was a farm laborer.
He was preceded in death by parents Emegidio and Marina Cortado, brother Romeo Cortado and sister Amelia Ruaboro.
He is survived by his longtime partner Bella Valdez of Kapa‘a, sons Philip Cortado of Philippines, Eduardo Cortado of Philippines, Rogelio (Editha C.) Cortado of Philippines, Ruben (Charito C.) Cortado of Philippines, Henry (Marites) Cortado of Philippines, daughters Noemi Cortado of Kapa‘a, Helen (George) Brillo of Philippines, brother Ruperto (Marcel) Cortado of San Francisco, California, sister-in-law Nora Cortado, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A service is Saturday, April 8, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai, with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m.
