So, how was the badminton lesson, Coach Craig Koga?
So, how was the badminton lesson, Coach Craig Koga?
Instead of teaching Nanami Nishikawa and Suzuna Arahori (Who had the dog named Leon? Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami wanted to know) how to play pickle ball, Lori and Craig Koga learned how to play badminton (Kawakami said they have a regular badminton program every week at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center).
Rintaro Yamamoto of Moriyama City had a special ‘ukulele lesson, but left the ‘ukulele playing to Art Umezu and a chicken-skin “Hanalei Moon” hula by Nalani Brun, who was introduced as having rendered the Hawaiian and national anthems at the state Legislature for at least 10 times.
Kudos to all who had a hand in making sure the Moriyama high school students and their chaperone Chieko Okumura had a good time on Kaua‘i!
Kudos, too, to Amelia Kyewich-Kaneholani for switching gears on the National Developmental Disabilities Month sign-waving due to the rain, and kudos to Kawakami for committing to an inclusive park on the Westside similar to the one adjacent to the Kamalani Playground at Wailua’s Lydgate Park…welcome news to Frank and Shana Cruz.
This is the lull before the Easter egg hunts go off, starting with The Shops at Kukui‘ula, which will host its hunt along with the pop-up farmers market at The Shops on Wednesday, with registration starting at 4:30 p.m.
