Tomiko Kabazawa
Tomiko Kabazawa, of Kalaheo, passed away on Feb. 5, 2023, in Waimea, at the age of 94. She was born on Sept. 19, 1928 in Lawa‘i. She was a housewife and a member of the Waimea Shingon Mission.
She was preceded in death by husband Kinjiro Kabazawa, son Wayne Kabazawa, parents Suke Ishii and Kane Yoshino Ishii, brothers Kaoru Ishii, Akira (Linda) Ishii, Yuzo Ishii and Charles (Alma) Ishii, sisters Hatsuyo (Matsuo “Charles”) Maeda, Haruko (Taketora “Richard”) Otsubo, Kikue “Kay” Nagato, Yaeko Ishii, Lillian Makizuru and Helen (Nobuo) Ota.
She is survived by son Royden Kabazawa of Kalaheo, daughters Myra Kabazawa of Kalaheo and Amy (Darren) Kiyotsuka of Kalaheo, grandchildren Kehaulani Regidor, Kahele (Josey Jacinto) Regidor and Kyle Kiyotsuka, great-grandchildren Kohbyn Regidor and Jemry Regidor, brother Takeshi (Reiko) Ishii of Carlsbad, California, brothers-in-law Muneo Nagato of Kalaheo and Roy Makizuru of Koloa, sister-in-law Sadie Doi of Hanapepe, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private service was held on March 3 at the Waimea Shingon Mission, officiated by the Rev. Kohtoku Hirao. Burial was at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Kelly Kahelelani Vea
Kelly Kahelelani Vea passed away on March 5, 2023, in Pearl City, O‘ahu, at Pali Momi Medical Center, at the age of 52. He was born on July 13, 1970 in Waimea. He worked for the state of Hawai‘i Department of Transportation.
He was preceded in death by mother Rosaline T. Romero Masuda.
He is survived by wife Penny Ann Tomacder Vea, sons Mycah Aquias of Lihu‘e and Makoaokalani Vea of Lihu‘e, daughters Kellin (Louis Silva Jr.) Vea of Kapa‘a and Kelsey Ann Vea of Lihu‘e, grandchildren Kanani Silva, Kiani Silva, Maia Aquias and Dalia Aquias, parents Valencia P. Vea and Linda Vea of Hanapepe, brothers Vailenn (Cherisse Rita) Vea of Kekaha, Vernon (Sabrina Le) Vea of Hanapepe and Vincent “Vinnie” Vea of Hanapepe, sister Kimberly (Ed) Lee of Kapolei, O‘ahu, and choke uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is Sunday, April 2, at Niumalu Canoe Club, in the heart of Kalapaki Bay. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A celebration of life will follow. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Bruce Kiko Kobayashi
Bruce Kiko Kobayashi passed away on Feb. 28, 2023, at Wilcox Medical Center, at the age of 72. He was born on Feb. 19, 1951, in Lihu‘e. He was the owner of Kaua‘i Office Equipment.
He was preceded in death by father Ronald Shizuo Kobayashi, mother Betty Tsuneko Sasaki and sister Cindy Miki Kobayashi.
He is survived by wife Sonya Kobayashi, son David Kobayashi of Lihu‘e and daughter Lisa Kauwale of Honolulu.
Private services will be held.

Gloriana Y. ‘Nani’ Lane
Gloriana Y. “Nani” Lane, 83, of Mililani, O‘ahu, passed away on Feb. 14, 2023, in Lihu‘e. She was born on Sept. 9, 1939, in Kapa‘a. She worked in security at Lihu‘e Airport.
She was preceded in death by husband William J. Lane, stepson Harrison Lane, stepdaughter Cathy Marasco and grandson Nelson Au.
She is survived by daughters Shawn “Cookie” (Ron) Cummings Clerc, Ilima (Patrick) Lopez, Kendra Olds, Edwina Malia (Don) Cummings-Kimura, Billie Kay (Robert) Lopes Sheldon and Anela (Jonathan) Lane Kael, stepsons Michael Lane and William Lane, sister Alice Pacheco, 23 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life is Thursday, April 6, at the Kaua‘i Beach Resort Jasmine Ballroom. Visitation with the family begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by service at 10:30 a.m.
Thelma H.T.L. Chun
Thelma H.T.L. Chun passed away at her home in Lihu‘e, at the age of 97, surrounded by her family. She was a retired Wilcox Elementary School teacher and an organist for Lihu‘e Christian Church and Kapa‘a First Hawaiian Church. She was a lover of music, and spent her time as a volunteer teacher at various places around the world.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, the Rev. Richard Chun, children Dennis (Kyoko) Chun, Malcolm (Carrie) Chun, Jonathan (Sandy) Chun and Debbie (Tiffany) Chun, grandchildren Ke‘ao, Noa, Kamaka and Makana Chun, Lauren, Jason and Kristin Chun, Kelcie and Dayna Ragasa, great-grandchildren Na‘ale and Lei Chun, Cami and Mikey Ambrose and Romi Kummerow, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is at Lihue Christian Church on Saturday, March 25. Visitation begins at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., and pa‘ina to follow.
