The Little McFarm got help from barista Jeri Madriaga in bringing Aloha Ice Coffee and Kaua‘i Coffee Cold Brew to the tent operated by Donya McKnight (McFarm?) and Kylie Kuhlmann on Sunday during the Beach House Craft Fair in Kukui‘ula, where bone carver Salesi Maile had a steady stream of customers browsing his offerings.
Fair coordinator Edwin Vea said the next Beach House Craft Fair will be on April 16, the day after Grove Farm Museum celebrates Paul Isenberg’s birthday with an ‘Ohana Night on April 15 (it’s also Tax Day).
Paulo (no, the locomotive is still waiting), named for Isenberg, will be on display at the Grove Farm Museum, said Scott Johnson, the Grove Farm Museum’s engineer, and there will be model trains running as well.
He said ‘Ohana Night also means the locomotives at the Haleko station will be offering free train rides (yes, they’ll have model trains running here, as well).
Jerry Yankowitz, one of the seven AARP tax preparation specialists, said people should take advantage of the free service, especially for kupuna, before they start getting busy as Tax Day gets closer. Today is Wednesday, so Jerry and the crew are at the Koloa Neighborhood Center from 9 to 11 a.m. It’s first-come-first-served, so get this out of your hair quickly. On Thursday, the team moves to the Kaumakani Neighborhood Center.
Happy Prince Kuhio Day (it’s Sunday, but the festivities start as early as Friday at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort &Spa in Po‘ipu, and the protocol hosted by the Royal Order of Kamehameha takes place on Saturday at the Prince Kuhio Park in Kukui‘ula).
Madde Jimenez of Mailelani’s will be at the Wailua Bay Creators’ Fair taking place at the Hilton Garden Inn from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. Gotta go early to get those Wailua malasadas!
