WAILUA — Graham Morgan, of Kilauea, fired a two-day 175 at Wailua Golf Course to earn the best Kaua‘i finish at the Hawai‘i State Junior Golf Association/First Tee-Hawai‘i 2023 Kaua‘i Junior Tour Series, 14 and Under tournament that wrapped up Sunday.
Playing in the Boys 13-14 Flight, Morgan was consistent in the 80s to finish 31-over for second place in the flight that was taken by Taylor George of Mililani, who finished the two days 17-over at 161.
A total of 23 junior golfers, including Morgan, from across the state teed off at Wailua Golf Course for points that are counted for the HSJGA/FTH Player of the Year, and the season race to the HSJGA/FTH Tour Championship that will be played on Maui in December.
Other Kaua‘i golfers participating in the tournament included Ike Tydingco and Tre Tydingco, of Kapa‘a, and Roux Ridings, of Lihu‘e, finishing in the Boys 1-10 Flight that was won by Jason Uno, of Honolulu, with a two-day 162, or 18-over. Ike ended with a two-day 204, Tre finished with a 234, and Ridings finished at 219.
Ayven Laguguen, of Kapa‘a, and Royal Ridings, of Lihu‘e, played in the Boys 11-12 Flight that was taken by Carson Kage, of Aiea, with a two-day 161, just a stroke better than Brycen James Massey, of Honolulu, who finished with a two-day 162. Labuguen finished two days at 200, a stroke better than Royal, who carded a two-day 201.
There were no Kaua‘i girls participating on the Girls Flights that was taken by Makena Yonemura, of Waipahu, O‘ahu, in the Girls 11-12 Flight, and Kady Matsumoto, of Mililani, O‘ahu taking the Girls 13-14 Flight.
The Boys 7-10 Flight played to par 72 at 4,996 yards; the Boys 11-12 Flight played to par 72 at 5,974 yards; the Girls 11-12 Flight played to par 72 at 4,996 yards; the Boys 13-14 Flight played to par 72 at 6,585 yards; and the Girls 13-14 Flight played to par 72 at 5,974 yards.
