HA‘ENA — The state Department of Transportation announced a possible right lane closure for grass cutting on Kuhio Highway in either direction between mile markers 4.5 and 10, in the vicinity of Lumaha‘i Beach Park and Ha‘ena State Park, from Monday through Friday, March 13 to 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kilauea
w A right lane closure of Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction for grass cutting between mile marker 22 and 24, in the vicinity of Kalihiwai Road and Kalumakua Place, Monday through Friday, March 13 through 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kealia
w A right lane closure of Kuhio Highway is possible in the southbound direction for guardrail repairs between mile marker 11 and 12, in the vicinity of Kumukumu Stream, on Thursday and Friday, March 16 and 17, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
w Nightly single-lane closures of Kuhio Highway are possible in either direction for paving between mile markers 9.8 and 15, in the vicinity of Mailihuna Road up to Aliomanu Road, on now through Friday, March 17, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Kapa‘a
w Portions of Kawaihau and Pelehu roads will be closed from Monday through Friday, March 13 to 17, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation, sidewalk construction and roadway construction. The project is to construct a peanut-shaped roundabout, sidewalks, paved shoulders and various other roadway improvements, with an estimated completion date of October 2023;
w A portion of Kahuna Road near Akulikuli Bridge will be closed from Monday through Friday, March 13 to 17, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for boring work for future improvements for Akulikuli Bridge, in the vicinity of 6709 B Kahuna Road and 6734 A Kahuna Road. Waiakea Road, Ahiahi Road and Kahuna Road addresses between 6257 and 6629 D and 6734 A can be accessed via the first entrance to Kahuna Road. Kahuna Road addresses 6735 (and greater), and 6709 B, can be accessed via the end of Kawaihau Road.
Wailua
w A right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway are possible in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass, for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements project;
w A single, right lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction for guardrail installation and surveying between mile marker 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kapa‘a bypass and Kuamo‘o Road, Monday through Friday, March 13 to 17, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
w Nightly, two lane closures of Kuhio Highway are possible in either direction between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kapa‘a bypass and Kuamo‘o Road, now through Friday, March 17, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements. Traffic will alternate in both directions through one open lane.
w A single right lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road is possible in the westbound direction for paving between mile marker 0 and 0.6, in the vicinity of Wailua Road, now through the morning of Friday, March 17, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Koloa
w Portions of Maluhia Road, from Kaumuali‘i Highway to Koloa Road, will be closed for grass cutting and shoulder maintenance from Monday to Friday, March 13 to 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kalaheo
w A single-lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in the eastbound direction between mile marker 10.3 and 11.5, between Koloa Road and Hokua Road, from Monday through Friday, March 13 to 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., for utility pole relocation, as a part of the Kaumuali‘i Highway Intersection Improvements project.
‘Ele‘ele
w A single right lane closure on Halewili Road is possible in the westbound direction for grass trimming and guardrail clearing between mile markers 1 and 3, in the vicinity of Quarry Drive, from Monday through Friday, March 13 to 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

All these repairs but I have two questions: when will Kuamo’o puka be repaired and when will all the weeds along the mauka side of Kuhio Highway between KCCC and Nukoli’i be trimmed back? There’s no shoulder because DOT has failed to maintain this area.
