LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Police Department arrested a 48-year-old man Monday on a charge of murder in the second degree.
Karl Tondevald, of Mitchell, was arrested at 6:28 p.m. Monday, public logs show.
It is unclear if this arrest is related to the homicide that occurred in Lawa‘i earlier this month or if this is a separate event. In that case, the main suspect was the victim’s son, whose body was later found in Koke‘e.
That was the first confirmed homicide on island since February 2020.
The Kauai Police Department said it would update the public on the arrest on Tuesday.
