LIHUE — Kaua‘i High School, which won the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation team wrestling titles, placed six boys and six girls on the KIF Wrestling All Stars list released on Wednesday.
LIHUE — Kaua‘i High School, which won the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation team wrestling titles, placed six boys and six girls on the KIF Wrestling All Stars list released on Wednesday.
Waimea High School placed five boys and four girls on the all-star listing. That included junior Skyelynn Ripley, who did well in preseason tournaments, only to run into a situation where there were no opposing athletes in her weight class during the season.
Kapa‘a High School ended with two boys and a sole girl on the all star list, which includes junior Casey Bernabe. She will be making her second trip to the state meet. She missed a year due to the meet not being held because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Most, if not all, of the KIF wrestling all-stars coincide with winners of the different weight classes from the KIF championship match, and earn eligibility to advance to the 2023 Texaco Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Wrestling Championships, to be held on Feb. 24 and 25 at Cannon Activities Center at Brigham Young University-Hawai‘i campus in La‘ie on O‘ahu.
