HONOLULU — The Kapa‘a High girls basketball team, defending Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champions, earned the No. 4 seed for the Heide & Cook Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Division II girls basketball state championships.
HONOLULU — The Kapa‘a High girls basketball team, defending Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champions, earned the No. 4 seed for the Heide & Cook Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Division II girls basketball state championships.
The tournament gets underway Wednesday and continues through Saturday at Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo, Hawai‘i Island.
With the No. 4 seed, the Lady Warriors enjoy an opening day bye and will see action in the quarterfinals on Thursday, facing the winner of the Wednesday contest between No. 5 seed Pearl City High and Honoka‘a High. Tipoff for that contest is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The No. 1 seed in the Division II bracket belongs to Hawai‘i Baptist Academy, followed by Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i earning the No. 2 seed. Lana‘i High gets the nod for the No. 3 seed, with all of the top four seeded teams into the tournament quarterfinals.
Other teams in the backet include Moloka‘i, Castle, Sacred Hearts, Hanalani and McKinley high schools.
