Nancy Anne Roberts
Nancy Anne Roberts of Kailua, O‘ahu and Lawa‘i, passed away on Jan. 5, 2023.
She was born in Portland, Oregon, to Winfred and Ruth Knight on Oct. 18, 1926. She went to school at Grant High School in Portland. She graduated from University of Oregon with a major in English as a member of the Class of 1948, and a member of the Phi Beta Phi sorority.
She married Thomas A. Roberts Jr on Aug. 27, 1948, in Portland, Oregon. In 1960 Tom and Nancy moved to Kailua, O‘ahu, with their three sons. She resided in Kailua for 53 years before moving to Kaua‘i in 2014 and residing in Lawa‘i. Most of her working career was spent at Oceanic Institute (Mokapu‘u, O‘ahu) as executive secretary from 1971 to 1996. She was a volunteer at Kailua Library, Ho‘omaluhia Botanical Garden in Kaneohe, and was an avid runner for many years. While on Kaua‘i she volunteered at the National Tropical Botanical Garden South Shore gardens oshibana group.
At her Kailua home, she hosted gymnasts from Maui Gymnastics (granddaughter Malia) as well as Kaua‘i volleyball players from Po‘okela Volleyball Club and Kaua‘i High girls volleyball (granddaughter Heather). She was one of the founders of Po‘okela Volleyball Club on Kaua‘i.
She was preceded in death by husband Thomas A. Roberts, Jr., daughter-in-law Molly (Thomas) Roberts and grandson Matthew (Tiffany) Roberts.
She is survived by sons Thomas A. Roberts III, David K. Roberts, Richard L. (Peggy) Roberts, grandchildren Malia (Todd) Nordman, Lisa (Rey) Andrade, Tami (Jerry) Yamamoto, Heather (Nathan) Dewhirst, Colton Roberts, 11 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and Terrie Roberts.
Memorials may be given to Friends of Kailua Library, Ho‘omaluhia and National Tropical Botanical Garden.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the caregivers that so lovingly cared for Nancy the last 5 years of her life.
Services will be held at the National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Tom A. Roberts Jr.
Yuqing Chen
Yuqing Chen, 95, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Jan. 14, 2023 at home. She was born on July 25, 1927, in Canton, China and was a dedicated homemaker.
Yuqing is survived by her 6 children Danny (Manmin) Choy, William (Rojana) Choy, Cindy Choy, Stephanie (Bronson) Kong, Liyan Choy, Mali Hanvichith, 12 grandchildren Edwin Choy, Edgar Choy, Angela Choy, Anna Choy, Michael Choy, Jimmy Choy, Larissa Choy, Bunny Kong, Charles Kong, Apple Hanvichith, Honey Hanvichith and Ty Hanvichith.
Private services were held by family.

Vincent Sa
Vincent Sa, 89, of California, passed away on Dec. 31, 2022, in Santa Clara, California. He was born on March 16, 1933, in Hanama‘ulu. He retired after 36 years as a Drywall Superintendent. He served in the United States National Guard for 6 years.
He was preceded in death by parents John Sa and Emelia Garcia Sa.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen (Honey) Aipa Sa, sisters Patsy Sa Lopes and Alice Sa Arruda, son Vincent John Sa, daughters Vanessa Sa-Roldan, Darnell (Kenny) Campbell, Desirie (Scott) Hoshi, 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Santa Clara, California. Viewing begins at 9:30 a.m., service at 10 a.m., and burial to follow at noon.
Salvatore Fred DiLeonardo
Salvatore Fred DiLeonardo, of Moloa‘a, passed away at his residence on Jan. 11, 2023 at the age of 72. He was born on Jan. 22, 1950, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He was a general contractor.
He was preceded in death by parents Anthony Charles DiLeonardo, RoseAnita DiLeonardo and sister Rosemarie DiLeonardo Holcomb.
He is survived by wife Jo-Ann DiLeonardo, daughters Ora May DiLeonardo, Mytra (Ryan) Mckeague, brother Anthony Michael DiLeonardo, granddaughters Salina Joy Manibog, Myla Jo Mckeague and pet Pineapple the cat.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of any offerings, please donate to Kaua‘i Hospice.

Steve P. Leger
Steve P. Leger, 53, of Anahola, passed away on Jan. 11, 2023, in Lihu‘e. He was born on Jan. 17, 1969. He was a cement finisher.
He was preceded in death by mother Katauna Lolita Toa, wife Ralphine Leger, brother Ray Leger, daughter Maile Leger, and sister Madeline Toa.
He is survived by sons Kiliona (Lehua) Leger of Kekaha, Steve (Kaia) Leger Jr. of Anahola, Tuna (Rachel) Toa of Hilo, Steve (Idaliss) Leger III of New York, daughters Katauna (Rayner) Worrell of Anahola, Moanalynie (Jasper) Leger of Koloa, Shiori (Andre) Leger of Keapana, Kaumalani (Kurt) Leger of Kapahi, Leilani (Lilinoe) Leger of Anahola, grandchildren Maleah Powell-Leger, Meleana Powell-Leger, Kiliona Leger Jr., Maikai Skivii Leger, Myra Medeiros, Kharmah Leger, Kawena-Kai Martin, Chasie-Lei Rapozo, Lilo Medeiros, Ryder Martin, brothers Daniel (Lynne) Leger of Washington, Arthur (Leilani) Leger of Samoa, Jason (Iwa) Leger of Samoa, Larry Leger of Samoa, Tini (Amanda) Leger of Washington, sisters Sharon Leger of New Zealand, Lilieni Maiava of Washington, Ausi Leger of Samoa, Lolini Latoa of Hilo, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is Friday, Jan. 27, at Island Worship Center, 4414 Hokualele Rd, Anahola from 9 to 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Frank J. Mattia
Frank J. Mattia passed away on Dec. 22, 2022, in Lihu‘e, at the age of 67. He was born on Dec. 25, 1954, in Bayshore, New York. He was employed at Costco as a payroll clerk in Carlsbad and in Lihu‘e for over 35 years. He cherished his beloved Costco family very much.
He was preceded in death by wife Mindy Mattia and parents Cosimo and Frances Mattia.
He is survived by sister and brother-in-law Debora A. Herzog and Joe Herzog and special friends Priscilla and Eric Tallman.
A celebration of life is Sunday, Jan. 22, at Nawiliwili Park, starting at 7:30 a.m.
Flowers will be provided to toss in the water. Canoes, surf boards and boats are welcome.

Silas Cody Streeter
Silas Cody Streeter, much beloved by his family and friends, passed away to his heavenly Father on Oct. 21, 2022.
Born April 22, 1991, he loved working with his mom and helping friends and family. He was an active participant in Special Olympics and eagerly anticipated participating in the events on O‘ahu. He enjoyed his many friends there and all his friends on Kaua‘i.
A celebration of life is Sunday, Jan. 22, at Wailua Houselots Park pavilion, 4988 Nonou Road, Kapa‘a, beginning at 2 p.m. We will be sharing memories and give honor for all the love that he showed us.
The family suggests casual attire and requests no koden (monetary donations).

Julia ‘J’ Kapahu Nakaya
Julia “J” Kapahu Nakaya, of Waimea, peacefully passed Jan. 1, 2021, at the age of 81. She was the owner/operator of J’s Dining and Catering in Waimea.
She was preceded in death by husband Kiyoshi Nakaya, parents Kim and Keahi Kapahu, siblings Ashford Kapahu, Tim Kim, Masa Kapahu, Albert Kapahu, Shima Kapahu, Edward Kapahu, sisters Rebecca Niheu, Anna Keamoai, and Mary Aviguetero.
She is survived by companion Wayne Odo of Waimea, children Nelson Nakaya of Poulsbo, Washington, Phyllis “Deko” Okada (Mark Edgar) of Kekaha, Kurt Nakaya and Sheldon Nakaya (Kira Seabury) of Waimea, grandchildren Shelby Omalza (Ryan) of Reno, Nevada, Ashlie Moriguchi (DJ) of Waimea, Jordan Nakaya (Chrystal) of Dupont, Washington, Shannon Nakaya (Mich) of Tri-Cities, Washington, Jamie Kurt Vidinha of a Lawa‘i, Kalei Nakaya (Ayla) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kayla Nakaya (Kalani) of Kapa‘a, Ku‘ualoha Kaleleiki, Shelee “Lei” Nakaya, Shelcee “Pili” Nakaya, Shelvee “Kaohu” Nakaya of Waimea, great-grandchildren Kealoha Omalza, Emelia Nakaya, Kezlynn Scanlan, Kiyoshi Omalza, numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. with services to follow.

Magoichi Miura
Magoichi Miura, 102, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Nov. 20, 2022, at Hale Kupuna Nursing Home. He was born on Jan. 2, 1920, in Lihu‘e. He was a carpenter and served in the Army 442nd Regimental Combat Team, Company C, 100th Infantry Battalion.
He was preceded in death by wife Ayame Koyanagi Miura.
He is survived by sons Ford (Kathy Keala) Miura of Honolulu, O‘ahu, Leighton (Iris) Chung of Las Vegas, Nevada, daughter Dolly (Lance) Nakata of Lihu‘e, grandchildren Lorileigh (Robert) Paul, Carin (Eric) Lee, Rae-Lyn (Jeffrey) Le, great-grandchild Reo Lee, numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held. The family requests no koden (monetary donations).
