KAPA‘A — The Rookies, defending champions of the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League, opened its 2023 season on Saturday with a convincing 22-13 win over Imi‘Ola at the Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex in Kapa‘a.
Imi‘Ola took an opening day victory 18-4 over the Bushwackas in Hanapepe.
Following an opening day bye in the 13-team league, the Rookies next face Barteks in a 10:30 a.m. match on Saturday at Isenberg Park in Lihu‘e.
Barteks took a 16-12 edge over Kawaihau on opening day, and picked up its second win, romping over the Bushwackas 18-1 in Kapa‘a.
First pitches at both Isenberg and Peter Rayno Sr. Park launch at 9 a.m. Imi‘Ola has the bye.
The Hanama‘ulu Hillsiders, whose home field is the Peter Rayno Sr. Park, face West Kaua‘i on Saturday in a 10:30 a.m. meeting.
