LIHU‘E — The Walmart store located in Lihu‘e will be joining other participating Walmart stores from across the state and country in celebrating the first Walmart Wellness Day of 2023.
Walmart is inviting residents to start down the path of getting, and staying, healthy during the event where customers can receive free glucose, cholesterol, BMI and blood pressure screenings. Additionally, affordable immunizations like flu, mumps, measles, varicella or Chicken Pox/Shingles, tetanus, hepatitis, HPV, and more will be available at the pharmacy. COVID-19 vaccines are provided at no cost to patients.
Also, wellness resources and an opportunity to talk with pharmacists are available.
“A fresh, new year presents a great opportunity to really check in on our health as families, and as communities. I’m incredibly proud of what we are able to offer through out Wellness Day events,” said Kevin Host, Walmart’s senior vice president of pharmacy, in the announcement.
”These free screenings and affordable immunizations provide not only valuable insight, but also valuable protection against illnesses that become common during the winter season. We continue to innovate the ways we deliver care through our pharmacies, Vision Centers, Walmart Health Centers, and beyond. We look forward to making more positive impacts in the lives of our customers and patients.”
Since 2014, Walmart pharmacies have hosted Walmart Wellness Days, contributing more than five million free health screenings for customers.
All 10 Walmart stores in Hawai‘i are participating in this program where more than 4,000 Walmart stores are in medically-underserved areas. This means Walmart is often the first stop for health care in these rural and underserved communities.
