Got a “softly-used” children’s, or young adult book lying around looking for new sets of eyes? The Kaua‘i RSVP (kudos on hosting the 2022 annual Recognition lunch at the Kaua‘i Beach Resort!) is collecting new, and “softly-used” books as its Martin Luther Day service project (are they going to be at the Kukui Grove Center, again?) to replenish the Little Libraries that have popped up around the islands.

Or, how about some Legos that are just getting underfoot? Jean Souza of the Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery (she also wears the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary hat) is accepting Lego pieces for an upcoming Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics project involving Legos.
The 2022 annual Recognition (it also happened to be an opportunity to announce Natsuko Daida’s 100th birthday!) was a great way to bring the Kaua‘i RSVP volunteers back into the loop now that COVID-19 restrictions and considerations are more relaxed … Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami announced the convention hall COVID testing site will be shutting down at the end of February.
Beverly Gotelli (she’s a 10-year RSVP Volunteer, and the bearer of Gov. Josh Green’s message) is getting excited about the 2022 Kaua‘i Quilt Show that opens in the Kaua‘i Society of Artists gallery starting Feb. 10 where she’ll be helping with the Boutique that will be available for the first three days of the annual show that’ll run through Feb. 22.
