‘Good old boys club’
I recently received my copy of the KIUC magazine, “Currents,” which celebrated 20 years of KIUC with a picture of current and former board members on the cover of the magazine.
It should be noted that of the 13 board members pictured, only one is a woman.
That should come as no surprise, since there have only been two women board members in the 20 year history of that good old boys club.
Additionally, on page 20 of the magazine, they published a “Statement of Nondiscrimination.” What a joke!

‘Traffic mosh pit’
Miracle of miracles, the great Wailua traffic mosh pit is pau!
After 10 years of inching along while burning through $5 gallons of gas, we can finally glide by the curse of the Coco Palms.
And, we’ll be able to use our hard fought for merge training on the coming Wailua to Hanama‘ulu congestion program.
Ua mau ke Wailua o ka ‘aina i ka Department of Transportation.

Yeah, I’ve seen the traffic in Lihue town when it is really busy. Fridays. It’s a pretty long wait. Not that long wait. How many people on the island? more than 70,000 people. With tourist? 85,000 people, so not that bad busy. Hooray. But what to do about it? Just don’t go there during those times.
Linda! There are an equal number of men and woman in Kauai County. Total population of Kauai County, Hawaii is estimated at 70,475 people with 35,299 male and 35,176 female. So, since the KIUC Board is elected by Kauai’s populace, then you should be pontificating to your fellow females.
Dana…….EXACTLY! All they have done is move the congestion from Kapaa to the merge at Smith’s, they have needed two lanes into Hanama’ulu for years!
