Juror Licia McDonald awarded the KSA Award to Tomoko Ouchi for her “Constant Flux,” and the Anonymous Art Lover’s Award for Maryann Donagher’s “Lobstah.”
Liedeke Bulder’s “Body of Work” earned the KSA Board of Directors Award. The Emerging Artist Award, sponsored by Kaua‘i Lava, belongs to Rachel Lyra Hospodar for her “Kanekea.”
Devi Town’s “Kukui‘ula Boat Harbor” earned the Art Patron Award, and “Musical Squares, Part 2” by Annie Coan was announced the Solomon Memorial Award recipient. “Salt Pond Sunshine” by Martin Wessler earned The Art Shop Materials Award.
Roseanne said following the Small Works exhibit, Lea Ingram, Toni Wass and the Kaua‘i Quilt Guild and Nene Quilters bring the highly popular Kaua‘i Quilt Show 2023 to the KSA gallery from Feb. 10 (just in time for Valentine’s Day) through Feb. 22.
Mayette Loseto, vending at the Grove Farm Market on Saturday (Dennis Esaki met up with a classmate while shopping), was thrilled when a customer bought out her durian supply (yes, that’s the aroma, people). Her traditional kadomatsu and citrus with leaves also sold out (Mayette said the supermarkets were sold out, too). Time to go home and celebrate New Year. Adam Coyaso said Christine did Mini Me with a special New Year’s fur design, and the fish vendors were definitely doing a thriving business.
