PUHI — Kaua‘i High School runner Emma Burgess broke the 20-minute mark by eight seconds Saturday, and on the boys’ course, Brennen Corregedore was 15 ticks over breaking the 17-minute mark during the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation cross country (5,000-meter) races held over the Island School course that just the day before hosted the middle-school cross-country championships presented by Run Club Kaua‘i.

UH scientists track asteroid in deep space

In latest forecast UHERO predicts softening economy

HONOLULU — A new forecast by the University of Hawaiʻi Economic Research Organization (UHERO) reveals a darker economic horizon for the state since its last forecast in May, due to the global economy slowing sharply, and the U.S. heading for a mild recession in the first half of next year.

HANALEI — The state Department of Transportation reported a possible right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway in either direction, between mile markers 1 and 3, in the vicinity of Hanalei Bridge and Mahimahi Road, Monday through Friday, Sept. 26 to 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for guardrail repair.
