Lane closures planned for Nov. 6-12, 2022

KAPA‘A — The county Department of Public Works and Grace Pacific LLC announced that portions of Mailihuna, Hau‘a‘ala and Kawaihau roads will be closed, and detours will be put in place from Monday through Thursday, Nov. 7 to 10, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In our ocean it is common for one fish species to hunt with a different species if the outcome is food for the both of them. Roi often hunts with moray eels and papio often hunts with weke, the goatfish. Even large sharks hunt with large barracuda from time to time.

TAX MAN: The O‘ahu empty homes tax is on ice for now

One of the ideas that has been kicking around in the state and county legislatures for a couple of years now is the idea of an “empty homes tax.” The idea seems to be gaining steam now since our federal court has struck down Honolulu’s recent ordinance clamping down on transient vacation rentals.

Kaua‘i Line Dance Group help veterans museum

Hawai‘i man charged for monk seal harassment

KAILUA-KONA – A 52-year-old man, who recently relocated to Hawai‘i from the mainland, was cited Tuesday by a trio of state and federal agencies after his dog was captured on videotape harassing a Hawaiian monk seal at Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park on Oct. 10.
