Island School’s Isadora Luz lit up the scoreboard following a 0-0 stalemate at the break. Luz scored less than 10 minutes into the second half, finding the net in the 46th minute.
Following Villatora’s goal that knotted the contest, 1-1, Voyager midfield Chloe Ayonon iced the Island School girls’ 2-1 victory on her goal that came at the 78th minute.
Over at Hanapepe Stadium, where the players could take the field at night due to the expiration of the endangered seabird fledgling season, Kapa‘a took both ends of their series against Waimea. The Warrior boys shut down the Menehune, 5-0, followed by the Lady Warriors shutting down Waimea girls, 4-0.
Mia Kaneakua-Inoshita, and Sienna Yamashita each found the net twice in the contest where Kapa‘a scored three goals in the first half, and iced the win on a second-half net.
In the boys’ contest, Kapa‘a spread its scoring among Koda Williams, Kamalei Gonsalves, Saxon Kiball, Zaiden MacDonald, and Kaulia Shiroma in the 5-0 win.
KIF soccer next plays on Jan. 4, 2023, when Kapa‘a hosts Kaua‘i at Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Park stadium, and Waimea hosts Island School at the Hanapepe Stadium. The Varsity girls will take the field first, starting at 5 p.m. at both fields, followed by the Varsity boys taking the field starting at 7 p.m.
