Bree is a 10-year-old girl who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome and an intellectual disability.
Despite her disabilities, Bree has an energetic and positive vibe. Bree loves being outdoors, spending time with her single mom and playing with her friends. Bree would benefit from some new clothes or a bike to keep her outside.
Through Christmas Eve, The Garden Island will share daily, front-page stories about families and individuals (we don’t use their real names) facing challenges and who would appreciate a little help.
The Christmas Fund is an avenue for everyone to provide that assistance. Donations are used by Zonta Club members to purchase gift certificates that are in turn distributed to families and individuals through social-service agencies.
Each donation is accounted for and recorded. There are no administrative costs involved, and money goes directly to provide for those in need of Christmas presents and groceries.
If you hold a fundraiser for the Christmas Fund, let us know and we’ll spread the word. Anyone making a donation of $200 or more can have their picture published in TGI.

w Ariel is a kind soul who has an intellectual disability and severe health concerns. Ariel has been healing from the loss of her adoptive mother of more than 40 years.
Ariel has retired from the food industry and maintains a healthy schedule. Ariel would greatly benefit from new clothes or new shoes to match her youthful spirit.
w James lives with his single mother, who struggles to provide financially with limited family support. James enjoys being outdoors, playing basketball, making music and being out in the community. James would benefit from some new clothes or games for his Wii.
