Joan Beverly Hudson
Joan Beverly Hudson, 75, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Nov. 19, 2022. She was born on July 31, 1947, in Los Angeles, and lived on Kaua‘i for 45 years. She was a beloved produce vendor at several Kaua‘i farmers markets for over 25 years, and also made jewelry and hand beaded purses. She was also active in many social and political issues for many years on Kaua‘i.
She was preceded in death by parents Nathan and Lillian Mattes.
She is survived by son Aaron Hudson, brothers Lawrence and Fredric Mattes, friend Francisco “Eko” Sadomiano, and many extended family members, friends and acquaintances from Kaua‘i and around the world.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Jennie Pang Ching
Jennie Pang Ching, of Hanalei, peacefully passed away on Nov. 24, 2022. She was born in Waipahu on July 1, 1925 to Chit Kui and Kam Shee Pang. She was co-owner of the former Ching Young Store in Hanalei, and operator of various businesses over the years.
She was predeceased by husband Lawrence L.T. Ching, her eldest son Steven Ching, and her 12 other siblings.
She is survived by son Michael, daughter-in-law Mary Ching, grandchildren Erin and Kelly Ching, and sister-in-law Rosalind Pang of O‘ahu.
Private services were held.
The family requests no koden (monetary gifts), but donations in her memory may be made to Kaua‘i Hospice, 4457 Pahe‘e St., Lihu‘e, HI 96766; or Mong Wan Tan Temple, P.O. Box 298, Hanalei, HI 96714; or the Wilcox Health Foundation, 3-3420 Kuhio Highway, Lihu‘e, HI 96766.
The family would like to acknowledge caregivers Edna, Elsie, Stephanie and Jeanette, who have given her many years of happiness. The family would like to thank Dr. Capelli for his many years of care of their mom, Wilcox Medical Center and Kaua‘i Hospice.
Charles ‘Charlie’ Takeo Moriguchi
Charles “Charlie” Takeo Moriguchi, 92, of Kekaha, passed away on Dec. 7, 2022. He was born on July 30, 1930, in Honolulu. He was the owner for Charlie’s Service & Repair and a Marine veteran.
He was preceded in death by parents Harry and Fusako (Watanabe) Moriguchi, brothers Harris Moriguchi and Ronald Moriguchi, and brother-in-law Barney Mateo.
He is survived by wife Betty Satsuki (Murakami) Moriguchi, sons Duane (Denise) Moriguchi of ‘Ele‘ele, Guy (Shirley) Moriguchi of Lihu‘e and Eric (Janell) Moriguchi of Kekaha, grandchildren Ashlie Moriguchi, Kyra (Evan Kuribayashi), Mallory (Kane) Zalopany, Justin (Mariah Navor) Moriguchi, Hali‘a Moriguchi, Bryce Yoshida and Grant Yoshida, great-grandchildren Emma and Kolt Kuribayashi, Alaka‘i, Kanıela and Kala‘i Zalopany and Maddux Moriguchi, brother Bert (Lynn) Moriguchi of Kailua, O‘ahu, sister Jane (Moriguchi) Mateo of ‘Ele‘ele, sisters-in-law Laraine Moriguchi of Lihu‘e and Evelyn Moriguchi of San Francisco.
A service is Friday, Dec. 23, at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. with services to follow. The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted. A private burial will be at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Stanley ‘Sugi’ Mitsuyoshi Suenaga
Stanley “Sugi” Mitsuyoshi Suenaga, 84, passed away in Lihu‘e on Dec. 12, 2022. He was born in Lihu‘e on Oct. 18, 1938, and worked as an electrician supervisor for R. Electric.
He was preceded in passing by his parents Yutaka and Yoshino Suenaga and sister Ellen (Noboru) Kiyan.
He is survived by his wonderful wife of 51 years, Leilani Suenaga, children Stacie Mosley and Stacelyn (Norman Jr.) Bukoski, grandchildren Shaden and Noah Mosley, Alysia and Siana Suenaga, Matthew, Hi‘ilani and Kahanu Bukoski, brother Donald Suenaga, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be announced in the future.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Leslie Ann Agno Macadamia
Leslie Ann Agno Macadamia, 29, of Kealia, passed away at home on Nov. 20, 2022. She was born in the Espiritu, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Aug. 4, 1993.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law James Macadamia.
She is survived by husband Jameson Macadamia, parents Joel and Flory Agno, brothers Louren Jay (Jeniffer) Agno and Joemar Agno, nephew Luke Asher Agno, niece Liana Rae Agno, mother-in-law Laurie Macadamia, aunty Clarita Domingo, and numerous aunties, uncles and friends.
A celebration of life is Wednesday, Dec. 28, at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center, with visitation from 9 a.m., services at 10 a.m. and luncheon to follow.
