Marcy fled from her boyfriend of four years. She is trying to get her life back by enjoying the beach and outdoors. She is looking for a job and housing.
Through Christmas Eve, The Garden Island will share daily, front-page stories about families and individuals (we don’t use their real names) facing challenges and who would appreciate a little help.
The Christmas Fund is an avenue for everyone to provide that assistance. Donations are used by Zonta Club members to purchase gift certificates that are in turn distributed to families and individuals through social-service agencies.
Each donation is accounted for and recorded. There are no administrative costs involved, and money goes directly to provide for those in need of Christmas presents and groceries.
If you hold a fundraiser for the Christmas Fund, let us know and we’ll spread the word. Anyone making a donation of $200 or more can have their picture published in TGI.

• She Hulk is a 36-year-old female who lives with her family in Koloa. She is with intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, and seizures. She requires the use of a wheelchair and shower chair to keep her safe.
The past few years her physical health has been deteriorating, her physical pain increasing, and her mobility very limited. She requires assistance in all her aspects of life. A few years ago she was able to walk and make her own meals.
She Hulk and her family are in need of assistance with living expenses. They humbly request any kokua.
• Black Widow is a 31-year-old female, who is intellectually disabled with vision concerns, requires a g-tube, and tracheostomy. She currently resides with her parents, aunties and uncle in Hanama‘ulu.
Ms. Widow’s mother and primary caretaker is limited in caring for her daughter. Ms. Widow has many health conditions which require skilled nursing services. A personal assistance rehabilitation worker also works on her goals to increase her independence.
Ms. Widow is nonverbal due to her tracheostomy, which therefore limits her communication with others. The request is for funding to assist Ms. Widow and her family with living expenses. Her family thanks all for any assistance provided.
