LIHU‘E — Associates with the Hawai‘iUSA Federal Credit Union combined their assets to provide a $500 donation to the Kaua‘i Humane Society on Thursday morning.
“This is for our ‘Pay It Forward’ donation,” said Karen Shigemoto, the Hawai‘iUSA branch manager. “This year, our donation goes to the Kaua‘i Humane Society after our employees got together and agreed the humane society needed the help based on the break-in they suffered earlier in the year.”
Shigemoto said Hawai‘iUSA’s Executive Management Team provides each employee $50 every November to donate to either an organization of our choice or an individual in need.
“It is a Hawai‘iUSA tradition to provide our teammates with cash to ‘Pay It Forward,’ and I would like to continue this tradition,” said Greg Young, the president and CEO of Hawai‘iUSA.
“This truly represents our care of others and the community that we live and work. This honors our past by continuing our traditions, while also serving our community that we live, our ‘‘olelo no ‘eau’ (translated to mean ‘from the past we follow the path bringing life to the community.’”
