Mahalo, Kaua‘i Police Department Chaplain Jade Wai‘ale‘ale Battad (KPD Blue is a nice change of pace from white) for inviting the Kaua‘i County Council in total (how come Billy DeCosta kept trying to hide behind Mel Rapozo?), and Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami to join her in singing the doxology following the blessing for the new police officers (and the seven promotion candidates and the four retirees!) during the KPD graduation on Wednesday. With Kaleo Carvalho adding his harmony from the wings, they can sing!

Congratulations, Beau Hannafious (he likes the Thai basil fried rice from Big Monster, whose Belle Meephol picked up their fix before opening) and Jo Weaver of Rainbeau Jo’s (what happened to that food truck?) on getting inside the brick-and-mortar building on Rice Street (wondered why the black plastic was gone during the Lights on Rice holiday parade), where Edie Ignacio Neumiller stopped for a morning pick-me-up on Tuesday after Laurie Ho vacated one of the tables. And, the hula hoops are still there, nicely propped against the wall for those who want the fresh air while waiting on their orders.
OK, time to squeeze in the Holly Jolly Kaua‘i Made event at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort in Waipouli (where is that Angel Tree?) on Saturday between all those Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation high school sporting events.
