Congratulations, Claudia Dowdy of the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort &Spa in Po‘ipu, on being promoted to general manager at a California property.
Hyatt General Manager Dan King (he said the holiday lights are on in Po‘ipu, too!) made the announcement during the Kaua‘i Visitor Industry Charity Walk allocation breakfast at the Po‘ipu property on Wednesday.
GHK Banquet staff Jean Miner, Arlene Yoshimori, and Leilani Bright (her daughter Vanessa Bright is Miss Kaua‘i USA, and will be riding in the Rotary Club of Kaua‘i Lights on Rice holiday parade tonight!) got a photo op with Kelly Simek of the “Living 808” TV show team (what? John Veneri was soloing on Wednesday because Kelly was on Kaua‘i?).
The breakfast was a good chance to run into Kalena Pacheco of Waipua Garden (she’ll be at the Saturday craft fair at the Grove Farm Market in Puhi), who has her Wednesday opening at the Hyatt. It’s blooming season for some of the everlasting plants, so look for those that are really red.
Don’t forget, this is Little Pea’s Holiday Market, where the silent auction proceeds benefit Kaua‘i Hospice (wonder if Dr. Monty Downs will make an appearance), Saturday and Sunday in the former Pier I spot at the Kukui Marketplace.
And, don’t forget Laine Griffith and the Kalaheo (School) Sunshine Express, who will debut “Disney 101 Dalmatians Kids” on Friday starting at 7 p.m. at the school (nope, no Sunshine Express in this year’s Lights on Rice parade. Hope McDonald’s is ready for that parade surge).
