PUA LOKE — Foil Fever wrapped up the successful Foilers of Aloha Classic foil surf meet on Monday by distributing the proceeds from the daylong foil surf meet held Saturday at Kalapaki Beach.
PUA LOKE — Foil Fever wrapped up the successful Foilers of Aloha Classic foil surf meet on Monday by distributing the proceeds from the daylong foil surf meet held Saturday at Kalapaki Beach.
“The waves were big,” said Leina Alcos of Foil Fever. “We had 65 contestants, and proceeds were given back to the community. The tournament was organized by Jason Tangalin and Pono Matthews.”
One of the stops included the Women In Need, where Foil Fever dropped off $1,610 and assorted products contributed by individuals and groups attending the surf meet, where waves were large enough to have the county close the parking area on Nov. 29 to repair the wave damaged areas.
In addition to the Women In Need contribution, Foil Fever also donated $4,000 to Na Maka Onaona, a nonprofit organization that engages the communities to be “the maka of our home,” with programs spread across Hawai‘i pae ‘aina, or the state, and the Moananuiakea, or the Pacific Ocean.
An additional $500 was presented to the Niumalu Canoe Club that was established in 1997 and located at Kalapaki Beach.
