KOLOA — Alaka‘i O Kaua‘i Public Charter School sixth grade students Orah McGee and Sawyer Kimball set new course records on Wednesday during the school’s Third Turkey Trot event held at the school’s Kahili Valley campus.
KOLOA — Alaka‘i O Kaua‘i Public Charter School sixth grade students Orah McGee and Sawyer Kimball set new course records on Wednesday during the school’s Third Turkey Trot event held at the school’s Kahili Valley campus.
McGee and Kimball were not only the top female and male finishers for the sixth grade class, their successful negotiation of the Turkey Trot course set new course records.
McGee tripped the clocks at 3 minutes and 36 seconds, while Kimball stopped the clocks at 3:18.
“We held our third annual Turkey Trot this afternoon on campus under near-perfect conditions,” said DJ Adams, the school’s po‘okumu, or director.
“We are extremely proud of all of our keiki for taking on the challenge and exploring new activities that they may not have tried previously. The character trait focus for November at Alaka‘i O Kaua‘i Charter School is achievement, and we do wish to recognize the winners from each of the grade levels.”
Viona Peterson and Jahzeah Castillo were tops in the kindergarten class with Atseret McGee and Kahoku Tam topping the Grade One competitors.
Tatiana Zimmerman and Keegan Carolan were at the top of Grade Two student athletes.
Kahewai Tam and Jaxen Nielsen topped the Grade Three field.
Rosa Stares and Zander Michaels topped the Grade Four competitors. Georgia Ulloa and Jude Martin were tops in the Grade Five arena.
Orah McGee and Sawyer Kimball were the top Grade Six competitors, as well as new course record setters.
