Bryana Siale was enjoying (the county Employee Council’s Kaleo Carvalho was especially attentive to the toddler snuggled in her Safe stroller) her second food drive on Saturday when the Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association Kaua‘i chapter partnered with the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank (Kelvin Moniz had to hurry to catch a plane to officiate one of the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association state football championship games!) for its food distribution at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e, where Bryana’s dad, Tyrus Siale, was helping Samira Siale and the rest of the Kaua‘i Lifeguard Association.

KLA was overflowing with activity, as Kalani Vierra, Kleve Zarbaugh (and Chantal Zarbaugh, too) were helping Kalani’s sister, Lesah Merritt and the Safeway crew (boy, those employees came out en masse when the managers took the dunking booth) with Safeway and Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Nourishing Neighbors food drive. Lesah said you have until Dec. 26 to help Nourish Neighbors.
And, Jaime Arriola was off from the food distribution to the ocean safety for canoe paddlers taking place at Kalapaki Beach!
Kudos, volunteers, as Megan Souza and her cousin Erika Souza were manning a Toys for Tots table at the Grove Farm Market (did you know that Junior loves Adam Coyaso coconuts?) for the third year. They’ll be there two more weekends, ending Dec. 3, but Kaua‘i Police Department Capt. Rod Green needs volunteers to help at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e on Friday evenings, or Saturday and Sunday. Sign up through toys4tots.org and go to the Kaua‘i page.
