One of the good things about Veterans Day is the reunion of people who have not seen each other for a long time (very nice to see Pastor Tom Iannucci…miss not having Pietro’s Pizza!). Yes, Jimmy Oyadomari (of the Korean War!), we miss not seeing Domi Alayvilla around, and how sad that the Scouts of America have been relegated to the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery multi-purpose building.

Kudos, Sarah Tochiki, who had a very distinguished audience when she rendered “Taps” (remember the COVID-19-inspired Taps Across America when no one paused when she blew “Taps” on the steps of the Historic County Building on Rice Street in Lihu‘e (the building was closed because of COVID-19)?
Sarah had a full day because she brought out the Kaua‘i Community College music groups for the Aloha Friday program at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e. Any idea of her full holiday schedule for more performances by her groups that include the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School Band (remember that drive-thru concert from the COVID-19 pandemic?).
Patsy Rapozo of the Kaua‘i Pop Warner Football League (husband Mel Rapozo, congratulations on being elected one of seven Kaua‘i County Council members! He said Patsy baked banana bread just for the Veterans Day program!) said the KPWFL Shrine Game benefiting the Shriners is Sunday, and will feature a team from Hawai‘i Island (the Hilo Vikings girls soccer team is here, too).
