C.B. Martin
C.B. Martin, 87, passed away at his home in Ha‘ena, on Oct. 20, 2022. He was born on Sept. 2, 1935, in Fox Lake, Illinois.
After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, he began working in the industrial manufacturing industry, specializing in hydraulic machined parts for Aerospace, Defense and Space applications.
He started his own manufacturing company in 1978 in Sun Valley, California, and built a thriving business that saw him put his three children through college and ultimately supported his relocation to the island of Kaua‘i in 1998.
He possessed a keen intelligence, had a great capacity for kindness to others, a superb sense of humor and was always in favor of a great party with good music, flowing wine, good eats and a thriving warmth of community.
He was preceded in death by father Cyril B. Martin Sr., mother Bernice Martin and sister Jane Martin.
He is survived by wife Jennifer (Toni) Martin, son Richard Martin of Redondo Beach, California, stepson James McLenaghan of Prairieville, Louisiana, daughters Margaret Victoria Martin of Burbank, California, Heather Martin of Woodland Hills, California, Michelle Sievers of Westlake Village, California, grandchild Charlotte McLenaghan, brothers Wayne Martin of Yakima, Washington, Stewart Martin of Salem, Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Eileen Meu Lin Chai Miyasato
Eileen Meu Lin Chai Miyasato, 77, of Lihu‘e, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 25, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born on Sept. 24, 1945, in Kailua, O‘ahu. She was a dressmaker for over 50 years and a sewing instructor for over 30 years. She ran a sewing school called Aunty Eileen’s Sewing School in Lihu‘e. Eileen was an active member of Kauai Bible Church in Oma‘o.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Beatrice Chai.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Barry Miyasato of Lihu‘e, sons David (Estelle) Miyasato, Daniel (Kristi) Miyasato, Darryl (Reiko) Miyasato, six grandchildren, sisters Elizabeth Au, Eleanor Chang, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A celebration of life is Friday, Nov 18, at Kaua‘i Veterans Center, with visitation at 1:30 p.m. and service at 3 p.m.
Borthwick Kauai Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ferdinand Daligcon Mariano
Ferdinand Daligcon Mariano passed away on Oct. 14, 2022. He was born on Sept. 5, 1971, in Waimea. He was an accountant for the Department of Water.
He was preceded in death by sister Marivic Mariano and brother James Mariano.
He is survived by parents Fernando and Gloria Mariano and brother Paul Mariano.
Friends may visit the family on Friday, Dec. 9, at Westside Christian Center in Kekaha. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. and services at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.
