Happy birthday, Cathe Turley and Tammy Pu‘u of Kukui‘ula (yes, they’re both Scorpios born on the same day!), who celebrated their special day with Lynette Medrano Stine and Lori Almarza at the Kaua‘i United Way fundraising Train Ride in the Moonlight at Kilohana!

Kudos to Lynette and Lori on coming up with this fundraising event (it was sold out!) for a “manageable” amount of people (the amount of people who could fit on the train) who got to hear amazing Paul Tokioka on slack-key guitar while enjoying cocktails and pupu before boarding the Kilohana train (Lynette said Kilohana did their research and coordinated the train’s departure to coincide with moonrise) for the lo‘i pavilion for dessert under the light of the nearly full moon (dang those clouds that obscured the moon right before totality on Monday).
Friday is the Kaua‘i Veterans Council annual Veterans Day service starting at 11 a.m. at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
There is still lots of time to pick up the race packets and last-chance registration at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e (can check out Rose’s Halo Halo, too) for the Kaua‘i Rotary Club (they’re presenting the Lights on Rice holiday parade on Dec. 2 in-person on Rice Street!) Sugar Mill Run kicks off Saturday morning in Koloa near the Anne S. Knudsen Park (reminder — the Po‘ipu bypass road is going to be closed until after the event).
