Kudos, Kaua‘i Construction Career Day co-chair Laura Cushnie, and the many hands (more than 40 exhibits!) involved in hosting the daylong career day at Kaua‘i Community College in Puhi, where students in the trades classes could not only present information, but had time to explore the different areas of the construction industry.

State Department of Education Kaua‘i Complex Area Superintendent Daniel Hamada joined Mayor Derek Kawakami (he really got engaged in some of the activity stations!) and state Rep. Sylvia Luke in welcoming the more than 400 students to the career exploration trip (students even got lunch along with safety helmets, glasses and ear plugs and snacks! — What? Donna’s Cookies from Honoka‘a at the Kiewit Construction table?
Congratulations, Bill Moore, visiting from Oregon, who is the latest Mokihana Menehune Ali‘i after being sworn in by Lions Past District Governor Roy Nishida (the Lions have their diabetes and blood pressure screening coming up Nov. 19. Yikes, that’s just a day after this year’s Toys for Tots launches, and the same day East Kaua‘i Lion Kelvin Moniz needs to fly to Hawai‘i Island to officiate one of the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association football playoff games!) after being nominated by Janice Bond (she still had $2 bills for the Tail Twister).
Kaua‘i Lions Club’s Tisha Remigio was volunteered to help with parking at the Taste of Kaua‘i High along with Morgan Lopez (Pele Jele makes great holiday gifts!).
Ah, just don’t forget, Veterans Day is on Friday (the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour).
