Waipouli Road needs an upgrade
Waipouli Road needs an upgrade
I would like to thank whoever came up with the idea, when doing work on Olohena Road, to make a detour up Waipouli Road and across to the top of Olohena.
Hopefully, all the people forced to drive on the distant part of Waipouli will let our roads division know that that portion of the road is in horrible condition.
And, of course, with all this extra traffic, the potholes are getting their own potholes!
Right up to the short portion of Waipouli from every direction (lower Waipouli, Kainahola Road and Olohena Road), the roads are a joy to drive on.
But every time that portion is “fixed” all it gets are Band-Aids. Is it true that it is not maintained in order to keep the road from being used as a bypass? That would be a shame, because it does make a good way to avoid Kapa‘a traffic. It allows drivers to leave the highway at the new Kealia roundabout, enjoy a relaxing, scenic drive, and return to the highway across from Coco Palms.
So all you drivers taking the Olohena detour, do yourself and all of us a favor and let the county know that the top part of Waipouli Road needs a real upgrade and not just more pothole Band-Aids.
