Kudos, Divina Plowman and her Kaua‘i High School student leaders for putting together the Halloween Bash “for teenagers (school ID needed for admission)” Saturday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e. Mahalo, Dave Sosner and Melissa McFerrin-Warrack for being able to accommodate the young people (they’re from all the high schools) with a safe place to enjoy Halloween!

Army recruiter Sgt. 1st Class Ryan Fussell (he concerns himself with both Kapa‘a and Waimea high schools’ JROTC) said Kapa‘a’s Ella Anderson (she finished the Hawaii High School Athletic Association state riflery competiton in 18th place in a three-way tie with 518 points) is still Kaua‘i’s top female marksperson. Kaua‘i High School’s Jacob Andres is the top boys sharpshooter, finishing 23rd overall at the state competition with 510 points. Kudos and mahalo, Kapa‘a High Principal Tommy John Cox, for enabling Fussell and other coaches to accompany the KIF air rifle representatives to the state competition!
Fussell said Ella will be at a car wash on Sunday at KGC to benefit the Kapa‘a JROTC program that wants to start a Raider team and travel to Maui to participate in the Maui Madness Challenge competition. It’s a good reason to get the car washed before the Trunk or Treat with the Kaua‘i Resilience Project opens on Sunday afternoon at KGC.
