HONOLULU — Data released on Wednesday by the state Department of Health showed 82 new COVID-19 cases on Kaua‘i from Oct. 17 to 24, and 1,327 new cases statewide.
Kaua‘i’s seven-day, COVID-19 case average remained nearly the same this week at 11 cases a day, compared with 1o cases a day last week.
The test positivity rate on Kaua‘i was 10.5 percent, compared with 6.2 percent statewide.
No COVID-19 deaths have been reported on the island this month.
COVID-19 testing is available Monday through Friday at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e and other county locations.

The DOH reported that 79 percent of the island (56,538 people) received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 73 percent (52,448) completed the primary series. A total of 43 percent (30,968) received a booster shot, and 13 percent (9,002) received a second booster.
DOH Kaua‘i District Health Officer Dr. Janet Berreman recommends that everyone eligible for a bivalent vaccine should receive one. The bivalent vaccine is currently available to individuals 5 and older who completed their primary vaccine series at least two months ago, or had their most recent booster at least two months ago.
