The deadline is Thursday to register for some of the Halloween fun at Kukui Grove Center.
Advance registration ensures participants in the annual Halloween Festival Costume Contest will receive treat bags. Registration is also needed to reserve treat bags for the center-wide trick or treating that follows the costume contest.
Registration can be done by visiting kukuigrovecenter.com and following the links to Halloween Festival.
Halloween and the fall festival got serious on this final week leading to Halloween when the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau partnered with Rachel Secretario to demonstrate pumpkin carving techniques during the free pumpkin giveaway at the Monday Pau Hana Market, where a line greeted market monitors.
Friday is the final showing of Freaky Fridays from 5:30 to 8 p.m. by the Aloha Dance Studio ‘ohana near the Keiki Korner play area, where the offering of carnival-type games and activities gets interrupted by flash dance performances from Aloha Dance Studio students.
Saturday, the annual tradition of the Halloween keiki contest returns in-person following the COVID-19 shutdowns, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The costume contest takes the stage by age groups, and will include the scariest howl contest, a “Monster Mash” dance off, and even a family costume contest for siblings, mommy and me, or even the whole ‘ohana gang.
Soulfire Stiltwalkers will be joined by the menagerie from Showtime Characters as they visit the various Halloween-themed stations arond the center and the Halloween selfie station.
A billboard in the shopping center says there will be Trunk or Treat with the Kaua‘i Resilience Project Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. before the young ghouls, goblins and monsters go off trick or treating on Oct. 31 that happens to fall on Monday this year.
