Allen Kunio Ihara
Allen Kunio Ihara, 87, of Lihu‘e, passed away at his nieces’ home on Sept. 28, 2022. He was born on May 20, 1935, on Kaua‘i. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from the County of Kaua‘i as a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by parents Muneo and Hatsuko Ihara, siblings Kimie Sommerfeld, Ayako Neifert, Akie Moribe, Tomoe Anderson and Richard Ihara.
He is survived by brother Wayne (Mitzi) Ihara, sister Patricia (Allen) Ticala, caregivers Randal, Debbie, Marisa, Dreana and Randon Valenciano, nephews Peter Neifert, David Neifert, Myles Moribe, nieces Trudy Peltier, Susan Bissonnette, Polly Sommerfeld-Daigle, Debbie Valenciano, Shari Keliiaa, Jennifer Ihara-Takase, sister-in-law Patsy Ihara, numerous cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Private services will be held by family.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bessie Duran Garbo
Bessie Duran Garbo, 77, of Honolulu, passed away on Sept. 16, 2022. She was born on Feb. 12, 1945, in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She retired as a cashier with Whalers General Store.
She was preceded in death by parents Francisco and Mercedes Duran, brother Romulo Duran and brother-in-law Abelardo Iloreta.
She is survived by brothers Artemio (Shanna) Duran, Isabelo (Elisa) Duran, sisters Amelia Iloreta, Avelina (Herbert) Semana, sister-in-law Cora Duran, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Oct. 29, at St. Catherine Church, with visitation from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Ruth Leilani (Kailikini) Naumu
Ruth Leilani (Kailikini) Naumu, of Lihu‘e, passed away at home on Aug. 26, 2022. She was born on Nov. 27, 1953, in Waimea.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dwayne Naumu, son Garrett Naumu, parents Abraham and Ermine Kailikini Sr. and Janet and Wallace Naumu, siblings Abraham Kailikini Jr. and Pamela and Ernest Dow.
She is survived by her children Tiffany (Debbie) Naumu, Trisha Naumu, Krystal (Daren) Naumu, hanai son Micah Paglinawan, sister Cynthia (Kailikini) Blair, brothers-in-law Darryl (Caroline) Naumu, Glenn Naumu, grandchildren Brenden, Aleajah, Taytra Naumu, Kelcie and Dayna Ragasa, and great- grandchild Camille Ambrose.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Kailikini Family Residence located at 5010 Awawa Rd. Hanapepe, beginning at 11 a.m.

Florence ‘Babe’ Acain
Florence “Babe” Acain passed away on Sept. 19, 2022, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital, at the age of 88. She was a retired produce manager at Waimea Big Save.
She was preceded in death by husband Patricio Acain, parents Mariano Kuaron, Primitiva Amandurum Kuaron, sisters Rosella Alao, Consolacion Lowe and brother Clarito Kuaron.
She is survived by sons Patrick (Janet) Acain of Nevada, Aaron Acain (Marcia Hoffman) of Kekaha, Anthony (Gloria) Acain of Kekaha, daughter Alison (Dave) Gaertner of Texas, grandchildren Leanne (Jeff) Jarvis of California, Gage (Nicole) Acain of California, Shannon (Eric) Redmond of Pennsylvania, Kristen (Kevin) Resinto of Washington, Bruce (Rhonda) Gaertner of Utah, Kyle (Shannon) Gaertner of Texas, Kurt Gaertner of Texas, Anthony Acain, Jr. (AJ) of Texas, Anson (Sarah) Acain of Kapa‘a, Adam Acain of Kekaha, great-grandchildren Kayli, Lexi, Riley, Talan, Lucianna, Eloisa, Zion, Hope (Jax) Anderson, Mariah (Justin) Daniels, Cameron (Maddie) Stanger, Keoni Gaertner, Alikai Gaertner, Lenore, Ramsey and Aniaiah Acain, great-great-grandchildren Aeris and Iyla, numerous nieces and nephews.
A service is Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Catholic Church in Waimea. Visitation is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. The family requests aloha attire and welcomes flowers.

Dailinda M. Cabral, 77, of Seattle, passed away on Oct. 1, 2022, in Washington. She was born on Aug. 12, 1945, in Kahaluu.
She was preceded in death by parents Candido Manatad Sr., Incarnation Manatad, siblings Gospel, Valerio, Maria, Florita, Candido Jr, and Veronica.
She is survived by children Duane (Cathie) Silva, Lynn (Charles) Talbert, Joanna (Wayne) Duran, grandchildren Bryson Silva, Anya Korma, Rustyn Fu, Ashley Mondt, Ryden Fu, Dylan Silva, Alex Mondt, Cooper Sides, Brandon Agrade, Travis Agade, great-grandchildren Kaylee Jinchu, Alexander and Hailey Lynn, siblings Laura Kapule of Seattle, Floripis Cabanilla of Honolulu, Sim (Calvin) Soares of Honolulu, Isadora (Lincoln) Ching of Kapa‘a, Lucia Bernard of Seattle, Dina Manatad of Seattle, Carlos Manatad of Seattle, numerous nieces and nephews.
A service is Thursday, Oct. 27, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a. Visitation is from 9 a.m., eulogy at 9:45 a.m., services at 10 a.m. and reception to follow. The family requests casual attire.
Lt. Charles Augustus Naihe
Lt. Charles Augustus Naihe (retired), 66, passed away peacefully at his Wailua home on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, surrounded by his family. Known to all as Charlie, he was born in Honolulu, Hawai‘i on June 23, 1956, to Edward, Sr. and Irene Kahalelaukoa (Baker) Naihe and raised in Waimanalo. He was married to Terry Ashbaker (divorced, deceased), Marilyn Aniu (divorced), Dianne McCarthy (deceased), and Cynthia Tucker (estranged).
He is survived by children Moani (Lee) Fields, Moana (Mark) Piena, Maria (M. Paul) Waite, Maile (David) Lindsay, Makana (Scott) Bacon, Mahiʻai Naihe, Lawaiʻa Naihe, Ihe (Emma) Naihe, Pahoa (Chelsea) Naihe, 23 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brothers Edward (Karen) Naihe, Newman (Priscilla) Naihe, Cy Naihe, Lane “Bula” Naihe, Kamuela Naihe, sisters Debra Flores, Valerie (Richard) Medina, Jade (Young) Bedell, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service is Saturday, Dec. 17, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 4561 Ohia St., Kapa‘a, at 11 a.m. Visitation begins at 9 a.m.

Marina Caberto Igne, of Kaumakani, passed away on Oct. 19, 2022, in Waimea at the age of 90. She was born on Feb. 17, 1932, in Hanama‘ulu. She was a retired cashier with Waimea Big Save.
She was preceded in death by husband Emilio Igne, parents Gregorio and Eulogia Caberto, sister Apolonia Basquez, brother Billy Caberto and grandson Taylor Ramos.
She is survived by sons James (Christine) Igne of Cashmere, Washington, Michael (Cindy Marie) Igne of Kaumakani, Sean (Chlorie) Igne of ‘Ele‘ele, daughter Joni Ann (Alan) Ramos of Lihu‘e, sisters Janet Haffner of Kekaha, Georgia Fernandez of Kekaha, grandchildren Isaiah Igne, Jeremy Igne, Sandon Igne (Shaylece), Kelsie (Tiana) Igne-Samio, Ashtin Igne, Traci Ramos (Abe), Stetson (Seanne) Igne, Tevin Igne, Hayden Igne (Will), Braxton Igne, Teagan Igne, Cyrus (Avi) Medeiros, Chaunte (Tony) Silva, great-grandchildren Elijah Igne, Gunner and Sanira Igne, Atlis and Adakis Igne-Samio, Kyren, Kylea and Kyla Kahalekomo, Anuhea and Mohala Igne, Tavis-James Igne, Liam Simao, Mia, Mimi and Kyrus Medeiros, Taybree, Tony Boy and Tyrus Silva, numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life services is Saturday, Nov. 5, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. and prayer service at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Veteran’s Cemetery in Hanapepe.
The family requests casual attire and leis can be brought in her memory to add to the memory branches.
