Trick, or treat! Halloween is in full swing. Laurie Ho, Amy Chun and all those Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau ‘ohana — they’re at the state convention on O‘ahu — missed out on the free pumpkin giveaway at the Pau Hana Market at Kukui Grove Center in Liuh‘e on Monday, where, surprise, got to talk story with Carol Texeira, Vianne Tabata and Sonia Topenio.

Bill Spitz (is there a Halloween grinch) even rolled up his sleeves to help keiki decide on the perfect pumpkin, and Rachel Secretario even brought her plastic bag to bring home the pumpkin seeds and innards for cooking.
Kudos, Grove Farm, which got help from Blaine Agena and the Kaua‘i Pop Warner Football League (they play games on Sunday) and Mel Rapozo in getting out all those free pumpkins to ‘ohana who even got a chance at the Pali Climbing Wall in addition to all the goodies during the Grove Farm Market in Puhi Saturday. The kupuna said Puhi Park is where they play and practice!). Good job to everyone who had a hand in growing all those harvest and fall festival icons here on Kaua‘i, where even the rain passing wasn’t enough to explode the pumpkins.
Thursday is the deadline to preregister for the Saturday KGC costume contest, and the Resilience Project brings back the Trunk or Treat Sunday afternoon. The Shops at Kukuiula does their Trunk or Treat South Side Cruise Friday afternoon (that’s the same time as the YWCA mural unveiling).
Happy Halloween! Stay safe!
