Kudos, Stacie Chiba Miguel, Pillare Mukai, and all those hands, on another great pumpkin giveaway, where even employees of The Shops at Kukui‘ula had a shot at those Kaua‘i-grown pumpkins (you gotta look for the Aloun Farm stickers!).

What a week of excitement in Po‘ipu, with Chef Mark Oyama, Steve Nakata, Duane Miyasato and Executive Chef Eric Oto (even Lani Pascua-Kaui got to enjoy the chef’s demo at the pop-up farmers’ market at The Shops), and who was having a grand reopening?
It’s not over yet, as Pillare said Friday is the Southshore Trunk or Treat Halloween event at 4 p.m. in the parking lot closest to Bubba Burgers.
Kudos, Kevin Cornell of Popo’s Cookies (What? A vendor from Kapa‘a goes to Friday Art Night jus’ because their Popo’s Cookies and Pono Market is always sold out?) for the samples that drew people inside the alley, where Andy Johnston (his wife’s family used to have the Kalaheo Dry Goods store next to where the Brick Oven Pizza took over Star Theatre across from the Texaco — it used to be Taba Garage) had his concert for Woody on that special emerald guitar. What? Shoyu miso pork at Sumiko’s?
The crowd was at Talk Story Bookstore, where Rose Seaquill was reading, signing and talking story about her new book “She in Paradise,” with Paradise offering musical accompaniment. The multi-generational (great grandpa was on ‘ukulele with mo‘opuna dancing) halau outside Storybook Theatre of Hawai‘i was the bomb!
