Kudos to Joseph and about 36 other Thrivent volunteers (Alyssa Membrila is from Arizona and Deborah Yancy is from Wisconsin), who will be building houses for Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity.
Kudos, too, to Pono Tokioka, his parents state Rep. James Tokioka and Beth Tokioka, and all the hands that welcomed the 13th World Deaf Golf Tournament (this is the first time in Hawai‘i as a state) of 112 golfers from 13 different countries for a week of golf and being great visitors.
Rodney Oaten, the chair of England’s deaf golfers, said Pono asked for the tournament in 2020 after the tournament couldn’t be held in England because of the COVID-19.
OK, today is the pop-up farmers’ market at The Shops at Kukuiula, where Kaua‘i Community College will bring back the chef’s demo with some goodies for the Po‘ipu Food and Wine Festival. Pillare Mukai said they also have free pumpkins (look for the “Aloun” stickers … those are all grown here!), Friday from 4 p.m. while supplies last.
