LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation named the bowlers for the boys team, girls team, and individualist spots following the results of Match No. 6 where the participating schools celebrated Senior Night for graduating KIF bowlers at the Kaua‘i Bowl.
LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation named the bowlers for the boys team, girls team, and individualist spots following the results of Match No. 6 where the participating schools celebrated Senior Night for graduating KIF bowlers at the Kaua‘i Bowl.
Heading for the Billy Tees Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association state bowling tournament for the KIF boys team, also the KIF champions, are Kaua‘i High School senior Kaikoa Carvalho-Ki‘ilau with a 239 average, senior Kyllie Sasaki with a 203 average, sophomore Aaron Juliano with a 192 average, senior Shayne Shibuya with a 189 average, freshman Trestyn Reis with a 179 average, and senior Sage Cua with a 173 average.
The boys individualists are both from Waimea High School and include junior Richard Palacio, who rolled a 183 average, and senior Jericho Gudoy, who finished the season with a 177 average.
The KIF champion girls team repeat from Kapa‘a High School, and will be sending most, if not all, back to the state tournament. Players on the state-bound team include senior Jennifer Hayakawa with a 195 average, junior Skye Tadani with a 175 average, junior Kailee Gorospe with a 174 average, sophomore Rian Yamamoto with a 149 average, senior Keahilani Bacon with a 148 average, and senior Anjoelina Miyashiro-Catbagan with a 117 average.
Girls qualifying individualists include Waimea senior Erich Borbos with a 173 average, and Kaua‘i junior Mikayla Pacheco-Villanueva with a 159 average.
The Billy Tees HHSAA state tournament will be played at the Leeward Bowl on O‘ahu on Oct. 27-28.
