KEKAHA — Kumu Hula Leina‘ala Pavao Jardin took a break from serving up Hawaiian plate lunches to talk about her halau’s upcoming ho‘ike weekend Saturday during the hula group’s participation in the Ninth annual Harvest Festival at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center.
“We still have tickets available for the ‘music event’ Friday,” she said. “The ho‘ike tickets, unfortunately, are completely sold out, but people can still enjoy the Mokihana Fashion Friday.”
The Friday show starts at 6 p.m. at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e, with proceeds benefiting the halau that earlier in the year swept all of the major wahine events during the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival in Hilo on Hawai‘i Island.
Hosted by Zavier “HowsDisGuy” Cummings, the night’s performance menu includes presentations by Mark Yamanaka, Kupaoa, Dillon Pakele, Les Ceballos, Miss Aloha Hula 2022 (from the Merrie Monarch festival) Pi‘ikea Lopes, and a presentation from Ka Leo O Laka I Ka Hinkina O Ka La with Kumu Hula Kaleo Trinidad.
Tickets for the halau’s fundraising efforts are available at Vicky’s Fabrics in Kapa‘a, InkSpot Printing in Lihu‘e, the Aloha Craft Cafe in Lihu‘e, Aloha ‘Aina, The Wine Shop in Koloa and Kaua‘i Kookie Company.
