Congratulations to the Kaua‘i Grown 8-and-under baseball team on going through unscathed at the Mililani High School (Mayor Derek Kawakami said he attended here at one time) 8U Pinto Baseball Tournament on O‘ahu! Kudos, too, to the Mililani Trojans for hosting the tournament for the aspiring baseball players and coaches instead of waiting for someone to invite them!

Kudos, Coach D.J. Adams (how was the Kona Ironman competition?) for reaching out to see if the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation would be interested in playing a preseason round of girls basketball with his friend’s high school in Canada, and more kudos to Leesha Kawamura (mahalo, TGI reader!) for finishing first in her age group at the Lake Powell Half Marathon on a 2:02:47 performance — that’s 9:22 per mile!).
Kudos, Beth Harrison and the Kinipopo Shopping Village ‘ohana, on your 35th anniversary of the grand opening that coincided with the Kapa‘a Business Association Christmas Parade (the Kapa‘a ‘ukulele band was playing then, too!)!
Check out the free anniversary celebration between the Ace Housemart Craft Fair (Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e from 9 a.m.!), the Fall Festivities Dog Fanciers of Kaua‘i Costumed Doggy Contest and Parade (1:30 p.m. registration at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e), and the KIF high school football game!
What? That’s after the Aloha Dance Studio Freaky Fridays that opens Friday evening at KGC — and don’t forget the dinosaurs!
