HONOLULU — Data released on Wednesday by the state Department of Health showed 80 new COVID-19 cases on Kaua‘i, and 1,047 new cases statewide.
Kaua‘i’s seven-day, COVID-19 case average remained nearly the same this week at nine cases a day, compared with eight cases a day last week.
The test positivity rate on Kaua‘i is 12.6 percent, compared with 5.6 percent statewide.
Next week, the county is partnering with the stae DOH Kaua‘i District Health Office to distribute free COVID-19 home test kits at various county sites on a first-come-first-serve basis.
On Wednesday, Oct. 19, test kits will be available at the Hanalei Neighborhood Center from 9 a.m. to noon, and at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center from 1 to 4 p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 20, the kits will be at the Waimea Neighborhood Center from 9 a.m. to noon and the Hanapepe Recreation Center from 1 to 4 p.m.
And on Friday, Oct. 21, kits will be available at the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex in Kapa‘a from 9 a.m. to noon and at the Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center from 1 to 4 p.m.
