LIHU‘E — A California couple, reported missing earlier this week, were located safe on Tuesday, Oct. 11, the Kaua‘i Police Department said in a statement.
Nevin Dizdari, 26, and actor Joseph Lastovick, 27, were located at the Sugi Grove campground at about 8 a.m. Tuesday.
“We thank the public for your assistance, and we are relieved that Joseph and Nevin have been located and are safe,” said KPD Investigative Services Bureau Capt. Paul Applegate in a statement. “Mahalo to our officers and detectives with the Patrol Services Bureau and ISB for their diligent work.”
Prior to being located at Sugi Grove campground, the couple were last seen about 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9. They had told a friend they were going to go hiking in Koke‘e State Park.
They later sent a text to a friend at 2 p.m. on Sunday asking for directions to Shipwreck’s Beach in Po‘ipu, the KPD said. However, the couple did not return to their hotel room on the North Shore, and then later missed their 2:30 p.m. flight to Los Angeles International Airport on Monday, Oct. 10.
After Dizdari and Lastovick missed their flight, the KPD said that it initiated a search for them on Monday while staying in contact with the couple’s family and friends.
Lastovick, a native of San Diego, played the role of recurring character Joey Johnson on the daytime soap opera “Days of Our Lives.” He was on the soap opera from 2015-20, according to his IMDb profile at IMDb.com.
