What? Pluto is going to lead the Dog Fanciers of Kaua‘i costumed dog parade coming up Saturday at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e (it’s the same time as the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation football game where Kaua‘i High hosts Waimea High at Vidinha Stadium in Lihu‘e).

So said Brenda Biehler Turville, whose Showtime Characters will start ramping up Halloween at KGC (she was watching her granddaughter Olivia Jenkins — uncle Jason Overmyer was watching, too, as Coach Tori Tuttle and the Kapa‘a High Lady Warriors broke the Kaua‘i High Red Raiders’ volleyball win streak!).
Melissa McFerrin-Warrack of KGC is a member of the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i that is already stoking the fire for the annual Zonta Christmas Fund that is front-page news in The Garden Island in a bit over a month (nice job of wearing pink). KIF volleyball official Wayne Doliente found a pink whistle for Friday night’s games at Kaua‘i High, and Kapa‘a’s Toni Jordyn Umalla had a pink arm warmer). The wearing of the pink is in honor of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Kudos to “Uncle” Karl Andersson and the Kaua‘i Sailing Association (Double Espresso is in the weekly Nawiliwili Yacht Club shoreline racing series!) for putting together the fun day (almost as good as the Easter Egg hunt on the water!) celebrating the last day of the fall break sailing camp for 24 (where did those two extra campers come from?) campers, eight “Helpers” and twp “Instructors.” So, where was Chris Jordan and OZone?
