LIHU‘E — Bouncing twice on the cart path before rolling onto the green helped Morgan Liddell of Kapa‘a, who snagged a Hole in One at the Ocean Course Hokuala No. 16 hole.
“Morgan braved his 3 rescue from the white tees at 265 yards on the par 4 Hole No. 16,” said Hualani Duncan, the Ocean Course Hokuala Golf Sales Manager. “His ball got a little help from the cart path, bouncing twice, then rolling onto the green, hitting the pin and dropping in. Wow, lucky shot.”
Jack Nicklaus, the course designer of Ocean Course Hokuala, said the No. 16 hole is a “standout.”
“Be careful playing the drivable par 4,” Nicklaus said on the Hokuala website. “It challenges you to make the right club selection. If your tee ball travels down the slot, then you have a chance to drive it on the green, and putt for an eagle. A tee shot miss and you have an awkward pitch to the green. The smart play is usually to hit a hybrid or a 3-iron, leaving you a little wedge down to the green.”
