Norma Costales Bautista
Norma Costales Bautista passed away on Sept. 13, 2022, at home at the age of 81. She was born on Nov. 3, 1940, in the Philippines. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by father Adriano Costales, mother Juana Costales, sisters Teodora Matabia and Caridad Sarmiento and brother Virgilio Costales Sr.
She is survived by husband Virgilio V. Bautista Sr., son Virgilio C. (Clarissa Reyes) Bautista Jr. of Kapa‘a, daughters Purita B. (Domingo Sr.) Norial of Kapa‘a, Virginia B. (William Jr.) Batulayan of Kapa‘a and Marita C. Bautista of Kapa‘a, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sisters Erlinda Valeriano and Rose Balmes, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is Saturday, Oct. 22, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a. Visitation with family is from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by Mass. Burial will follow at the Lihu‘e Cemetery. The family request casual attire and welcomes flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Adelina Navor Negrillo
Adelina Navor Negrillo passed away on Sept. 25, 2022. She was born on March 13, 1935, in La Union, Philippines.
She was preceded in death by husband Mariano S. Negrillo, parents Elena Espiritu Navor and Agapito (Rachel) Nazareno Navor Sr., brother Juanito (Anacleta) Navor, sisters Paulina (Cresencio) Bumatay and Dariene Navor, son Johnny Navor Negrillo and grandson Ramil Negrillo.
She is survived by brothers Ricardo (Adele) Navor Sr. and Agapito (Melissa) Navor Jr., sisters Cecilia Navor and Ululani (Dan) Urwiler, children Rogelio (Mary) Negrillo of the Philippines, Loreta (Avelino) Sibayan of the Philippines, Florentina (Federico) Embernate of Lihu‘e, Leody (Susan) Negrillo of Kapa‘a, Ruben Bogs (Juvy) Negrillo of Lihu‘e, Ronnie (Violy) Negrillo of Lihu‘e and Carineo (Marlyn) Munar of Lihu‘e, daughter-in-law Nida Negrillo, 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service is Friday, Oct. 7, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i. Viewing is from 8 to 10 a.m., services at 10 a.m., and burial to follow.
Marie ‘Grams’ L. Thompson
Marie “Grams” L. Thompson, 103, passed away on Aug. 30, 2022, at her home.
She was born on Dec. 21, 1918, in Oakland, California. She was a housing manager for Contra Costa County.
She was preceded in death by parents Ernest and Frida Lanthier, husband Alex Thompson and brother Carl Lanthier.
She is survived by daughters Maris (Dan) Von Behren, Betsy Sweaza and Sally Thompson, sister Doris Forrest, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of life will be held.

Julio Gerald Kapuy
Julio Gerald Kapuy passed away on Sept. 8, 2022, at Wilcox Medical Center at the age of 91. He was born on April 12, 1931, in ‘Ewa Beach, O‘ahu. He was in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his lovely wife Maria Leanor Banach Kapuy.
He is survived by much-loved children, step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be at a later date.

James Daligcon Mariano
James Daligcon Mariano passed away on Sept. 2, 2022, at Maui Memorial Hospital at the age of 48. He was born on Sept. 22, 1973, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital. He was a social worker.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Esteben and Lourdes Mariano, maternal grandparents Gregorio and Victoria Daligcon and sister Marivic Mariano.
He is survived by parents Fernando and Gloria Mariano of Kekaha, brothers Ferdinand Mariano of Kekaha and Paul Mariano of Kekaha, and numerous uncles, aunties, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life is Friday, Oct. 7, at Westside Christian Center. Visitation is from 9 a.m., with services to follow at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.
