Friday was the last scheduled day for Nikki Cristobal, Holly Ka‘iakapu, Bree Blake (what? Waimea homecoming?), and Bethany Coma — they’re the Mo‘olelo Murals artists! — who got a visit from The Home Depot representative to make sure they had enough paint to finish the developing mural on the west wall of the YWCA of Kaua‘i building on Hardy Street in Lihu‘e.

But wait, there’s still more work to be done before the big (that’s Nikki’s term because they’re planning to shut part of Hardy and ‘Elua streets) unveiling event that’s going to take place Oct. 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring all-women craft vendors, entertainment, hula and more. We get to hear the story of the mural and see it during the time the sun goes to bed.
Kudos, Waimea High School girls volleyball team, for unveiling their pink (October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month) team shirts to demonstrate support for the global cause, and volleyball official Wayne Doliente was having some challenges finding men’s pink. Will we see the pink flags football officials use in October?
Meanwhile, Tiffany Dick and her Aloha Dance Studio ‘ohana are getting ready to launch the annual Fall Festival that will treat Kukui Grove Center shoppers to a taste of this year’s Halloween (watch out for those deadly candy look-alikes!) that kicks off the weekend of Oct. 15.
