The YWCA of Kaua‘i staff was invited to be the “last group” working collaboratively with the artists Friday because Holly Ka‘iakapu (she’s got dog-sitting duty, but plans to be back at Hanapepe Friday Art Night on the first week of October following the veiling of the mural) was afraid there wouldn’t be sufficient work remaining.
Bethany Coma (she said Nikki Cristobal “planted” the Hawaiian flag that punctuated the Friday event) said when the mural gets unveiled later in October, they plan to have music, hula, craft vendors, and more on the street that will be closed off so people can enjoy the event, block-party style, just in time to get ready for Halloween festivities.
Bree Blake said she was “delicate,” but the scorching, humid sun did little to wilt the flower who knew where every pocket of shade was on the property across from the State Building.
