HANALEI — The state Department of Transportation reported a possible right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway in either direction, between mile markers 1 and 3, in the vicinity of Hanalei Bridge and Mahimahi Road, Monday through Friday, Sept. 26 to 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for guardrail repair.
Waikoko
• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 4.4 in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge Monday through Thursday, Sept. 26 to 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree and grass cutting and debris removal.
Kilauea
• A shoulder closure on Kuhio Highway eastbound between Ho‘okui Road and Kahili Makai Street is possible Tuesday through Friday, Sept. 27 to 30, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for clearing of vegetation around high-voltage lines.
Kapa‘a
• The county Department of Public Works and Grace Pacific LLC announced that portions of Mailihuna, Hau‘a‘ala and Kawaihau roads will be closed from Monday to Saturday, Sept. 26 to Oct. 1, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for the construction of a roundabout, sidewalks, paved shoulders and various other roadway improvements. The roundabout portion of the project has an estimated completion date of November. The project as a whole has an estimated completion date of July 2023;
• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 6.6 and 8.9, in the vicinity of the Kapa‘a bypass road, from Monday through Thursday, Sept. 26 to 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for tree and grass cutting.
Kealia
• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in the northbound direction, between mile markers 9.8 and 10, Mailihuna Road and in the vicinity of Kealia Beach Park, on Monday, Sept. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for spall repair on the Kapa‘a Stream Bridge. Alternating traffic will be contraflowed in the open lane.
Wailua
• A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway are possible in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass road, for continuing Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements.
Hanama‘ulu-Wailua
• A right-lane closure is possible on Kuhio Highway in either direction between mile markers 3 and 6, vicinity of Kaua‘i Beach Drive and Kuamo‘o Road, Monday through Thursday, Sept. 26 to Sept. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass and tree cutting.
Koloa
• Occasional traffic delays are expected at the Koloa Road and Ala Kalanikaumaka intersection to perform work on the Koloa Road roundabout. The temporary closures are scheduled from Monday through Friday, Sept. 26 to 30, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The scope of work consists of the construction and installation of landscaping, a circular retaining wall and a sculpture. Construction on the Koloa Road roundabout central island is projected to be complete by the end of October;
• A roving, single-lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 3.8 and 9.1, vicinity of Pu‘uana Road and Upa Road, Monday through Friday, Sept. 26 to 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for grass trimming.
Kekaha
• A portion of Koke‘e Road near Mana Stream Bridge in Kekaha will be closed Monday through Friday, Oct. 3 to 7, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., for maintenance and repair work of the bridge.
